The sand is in. It's a layer about 4" thick. The "sand" is clay with crushed rock...better thermal conductivity than real beach sand. A wonderful day for manual labour...62 degrees and warm sunshine.

The pit has been raked to get rid of all the large rocks and the sand is being placed.The sand will only be a few inches thick, just enough to protect the geothermal coils. The gravel will go on top of this with the collection grid buried a couple of inches in. I had lots of help this weekend...the usual crew. Weather was in the 60's.
